As indicated above, UPTET paper-I is divided into five sections. Each section contains 30 objective-type multiple-choice questions of 30 marks. Total duration given to complete the paper is 150 minutes. Candidates have to attempt the paper in offline mode as a pen-and paper based test. Language-II is a separate language from language-I. Candidates can choose any one language out of the available options (English/Urdu/Sanskrit) at the time of filing t. Questions in language-II focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
Questions in Mathematics and Environmental Studies focus on the concepts of these subjects, problem-solving abilities and understanding of teaching methods. Questions in these subject areas are distributed equally in the different sections of the syllabus of that subject.
The questions in paper-I are based on the topics prescribed in the Basic Education Council syllabus for classes I-V, but their difficulty level is of intermediate level
